Three Rules of Engineering

Professor Michael P. Collins, of the Department of Civil Engineering, often said that there are only three rules of engineering that an engineer needs to learn (and remember):

  1. F = ma
  2. You can't push on a rope
  3. To find the answer, you must know the answer
