The University of Toronto High School Design Competition (UTHSDC) is an annual design competition for high school students from Grade 10 to 12 in the Ontario region. High School students who participate in UTHSDC get an opportunity to experience aspects of engineering design and communication in a competitive environment in one of Canada's best engineering universities.

Competitions

UTHSDC is a day long competition with an awards ceremony held at the end of the competition day.

UTHSDC competitors are presented with a design challenge in the beginning of the day, usually to build a prototype of a design solution to a real-life engineering problem. Students are encouraged to analyze the engineering problem in depth to extract the main functions, objectives, and constraints of the project. They are then encouraged to build working prototypes that solves the design problem, with those restrictions in mind.
