* No - you have to manually delete them all, which is a pain. When they're gone, the category will automatically depopulate, so you don't need to do anything with them. What you ''really'' need is a better CAPTCHA. The one you have - the simple math one - is easily defeated by spambots. And all these accounts ''are'' bots :/ See [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReCAPTCHA here] and [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ReCAPTCHA here] for something a bit better - [[User:Ihatespam|Ihatespam]] 02:40, 26 August 2011 (EDT) | * No - you have to manually delete them all, which is a pain. * Check out [http://wiki.bltnvw.com/index.php/Special:Recentchanges this example of a really badly-infested wiki]. I've no access to the shell, though, so am stuck doing the daily-delete thing. In fact I followed a spam link to ''your'' wiki from there - [[User:Ihatespam|Ihatespam]] 02:41, 26 August 2011 (EDT) | * Check out [http://wiki.bltnvw.com/index.php/Special:Recentchanges this example of a really badly-infested wiki]. Thanks again for the help. We were running ReCAPTCHA before but bots were still able to create accounts and were editing legitimate content on pre-existing pages. With the math CAPTCHA they only seem to create new pages. -hoalvin |

Thanks for the tip. Can you explain the categories/pages you set up and how to use them?
- Well basically, I can now simply add the {{delete}} template to the garbage articles in future. The template has a sneaky category inclusion in it, so that the sysop (you!) can simply go to Category:Pages for deletion and see all the spam and junk neatly piled up. Then - click - click - click - delete it all in a few seconds. Super-easy ^_^ - Ihatespam 02:23, 26 August 2011 (EDT) (aka 'Alison')
Is there a way to quickly delete all the marked pages and then clean up the Pages for deletion page? i.e. a bot plug-in or shortcuts? Thanks. -hoalvin
- No - you have to manually delete them all, which is a pain. When they're gone, the category will automatically depopulate, so you don't need to do anything with them. What you really need is a better CAPTCHA. The one you have - the simple math one - is easily defeated by spambots. And all these accounts are bots :/ See here and here for something a bit better - Ihatespam 02:40, 26 August 2011 (EDT)
