Design Team Association Director

The Design Team Association Director, or DTA Director in short, oversees the Design Team Association. The Design Team Association is a group formed of design teams and all of their members that come together to resolve shared problems and represent their problems to EngSoc and the Faculty.

The Design Team Association manages a shared 12-seat van and shared manufacturing facilities in the basement of the Myhal Centre and on the 5th Floor of 256 McCaul St.

Design Team Association Van

In the 2016-2017 year, members of design teams approached the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering with a proposal to purchase a van, to be shared amongst design teams.

DTA Van

Design teams were spending upwards of $13,000 annually on rentals of vans, and over $17,000 annually accounting for the cost of fuel.The goal of the Design Team Association van is to help reduce costs for design team transportation, and make vehicle rental more accessible to design team needs by lowering the rental driver minimum age from 23 to 21.

With support from the Engineering Society Skule Endowment Fund, the Faculty, and private alumni donors, a GMC Savana van was purchased in 2017. The van is technically owned by the University, however, the Director and the Van Executive of the Design Team Association manage all aspects of the van.Design teams pay a reduced rental fee towards the usage of the van, set at a rate that is proportional to maintenance costs for the van.
