The University of Toronto High School Design Competition (UTHSDC) is an annual design competition for high school students from Grade 10 to 12 in the Ontario region. High School students who participate in UTHSDC get an opportunity to experience aspects of engineering design and communication in a competitive environment in one of Canada's best engineering universities.

Competitions[edit | edit source]

UTHSDC is a day long competition with an awards ceremony held at the end of the competition day. Competitors form teams of 4, and are presented with a design challenge in the beginning of the day. The design question is usually to build a prototype to solve a model engineering challenge. Competitors are encouraged to analyze the engineering problem in depth to extract the main functions, objectives, and constraints of the project. They are then required to build working prototypes that solves the design problem, with design and time restrictions.
